St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown, Iowa, is a member of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. The congregation was organized in 1878 and continues to be a thriving congregation. God has truly blessed the ministry of St. John, especially in providing an education for the congregation's children. A parochial school was organized even before the existing church was built in 1888, and continues serving the congregation after merging with Zion Lutheran School in Paullina in the mid-1970's to become Zion-St. John Lutheran School.
